Ice, snow and freezing temperatures...
Perserverance and an awesome K9 tracker help Oscar get home
Oscar's story
as told by his guardian Dear Vicky, Mario and
Dakota, After 4 days of Oscar, my 1 year old indoor only cat,
having arrived safely back home, I can now sit and write you this thank you note. It truly is a dream come true. Oscar must have slipped out my front door behind my back, while I was helping our
16 year old dog. My husband whom mostly looks after our dog was away and I did not have my full focus on Oscar, who often
sits on the bench by our front door. I did not realize he was missing until he did not come for breakfast. Panic sat in when
I could not find him so I called all the places I could think of. The SPCA told me about you and I called immediately. The
posters you put up had my whole neighborhood on the look out. I quickly took your information on cat behavior and tried my
best at finding Oscar. I checked the trap at midnight and very early morning (4-6 am). You even checked the trap while I worked
during the day. After 13 days of worry and not a lot of sleep, I was about to give up hope, but you would not let me. You
have such a positive outlook and you knew I would find him. Finally after 13 full days and nights of windy, snowy, freezing
temperatures we heard a cat meowing loudly. Where he found the strength I do not know. I opened my front door and he did not
hesitate, he ran to his food dish. A reunion I will never forget. I will also never forget your kindness, the knowledge of
lost pet behavior, which I learned so much of, and Dakota who is all about business. You all knew Oscar was close by and it
was just a matter of him becoming more hungry than scared to bring him out of hiding. Thank you again. Oscar purrs more now and has not stopped eating. He is already starting to put a little weight back
on to. Cathy, Jessica and Oscar Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
